Yonge and Eglinton

This North Toronto community, jokingly referred to as “Young and Eligible,” is known for its large demographic of young professionals and families with school-aged children. The main cross-roads of this neighbourhood, Yonge and Eglinton, have been an important intersection for over 100 years. Before it became an ideal location for commuters, the Yonge and Eglinton area was primarily an agricultural community. Today, Yonge and Eglinton is a bustling, affluent neighbourhood, full of boutiques, trendy shopping and a wide selection of restaurants. Houses here were built in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s and there area variety of options to choose from. The original homes consist of Tudor and Craftsman bungalows, and semi-detached Victorian, Georgian and Colonial styles. The varied architecture and tree-lined side streets give this otherwise business-focused neighbourhood, a family-friendly appeal. New condos in the area satisfy the demand for entry-level price points, one of the reasons young professionals and families are attracted to the area.


Yonge and Eglinton offers a lively atmosphere. There are pubs, bars, restaurants, nightclubs and theatres in the area (hence the nickname ‘Young and Eligible’). The mix of stores on Yonge and Eglinton is diverse. The Young and Eglinton Centre offers indoor shopping and the North Toronto Community Centre provides recreational services. The community centre has a gymnasium, squash court, walking track and waterslide. There is also Eglinton Park, which has a sports field, baseball diamond, wading pool, playground and tennis courts. There’s no shortage of things to do and see in this exciting neighbourhood.
